More kindergarten places to come for children in Hume thanks to Vic Government
Hume City Council will respond to the demand for additional early childhood education and care (ECEC) choices in the region through the construction of a purpose-built new kindergarten building in time to enrol children for 2021, Member for Yuroke Ros Spence announced earlier this month.
To be located on Toyon Road in Kalkallo, the building will mean an additional 66 additional kindergarten places will be available, with the new facility to be in addition to the Kalkallo-based kindergarten facility that the Victorian Government provided in 2019.
The modular kindergarten building will provide a high-quality learning environment for the children of Hume, while responding to the rapid population growth and immediate demand for kindergarten places. Modular kindergarten facilities are relocatable, providing Hume City Council with greater flexibility into the future.
In addition, this project will support the council as it prepares for the roll-out of the Victorian Government’s Three-Year-Old Kindergarten reform in Hume in 2022.
“I’m thrilled that Kalkallo families will have access to more kinder places, ensuring that local kids get a great start to their education” Ms Spence said.
