The captain of Australia’s men’s Test cricket team, Tim Paine, has been appointed as the newest ambassador to the Alannah & Madeline Foundation.

Those working in the early childhood education and care (ECEC) sector will be familiar with the work of the Foundation, particularly in terms of its initiatives in the trauma space, through the Early Years Trauma Consultancy Service (TraCS), which helps early years staff to work with children aged three to five years who have been affected by trauma.

The TraCS training enables staff to understand challenging behaviours and how best to respond to them.

As a father of two small children, Mr Paine said he was interested in supporting the foundation because “nothing is more important than protecting our children’s future.”

“Being from Tasmania, I’ve always been aware of the Alannah & Madeline Foundation. I was 12 when the Port Arthur tragedy occurred,” he said, saying he was honoured to be asked to serve as an Ambassador.

Foundation CEO, Lesley Podesta, said she was thrilled to have Mr Paine on board.

The Alannah & Madeline Foundation is one of Cricket Australia’s preferred charity partners and have worked together to safeguard Australian children’s futures together since 2014.
