CUP Grants available to help ECEC services in regional communities to shine

Charles Sturt University Community University Partnership (CUP) Grants are open to applications. The grants are designed to recognise and support the smaller, but no less important, community projects “that often miss out on larger, more complicated funding rounds”, Julia Andrews, Director of External Engagement (Orange and Bathurst) at Charles Sturt University has said. 

In 2019, over $120,000 in funding is available to support communities “in the Charles Sturt footprint” across New South Wales.

With funding available in six categories: arts and culture, education, Indigenous development, health and wellbeing, environmental sustainability, and sport, up to $1,000 can be awarded for projects which will enhance the community. 

In the first round of funding, a number of early childhood education and care (ECEC) services benefited from CUPS support, including Mitchell Early Learning Centre‘s Kindergym project, the Children’s Lego Therapy Program with the Bathurst Early Childhood Intervention group, Junee Preschool, for the introduction of STEM basics through bee-bots, and Uranquinty Preschool, who used the funding to purchase art materials, and fund two local artists to attend the service and work with the children.
